Edward j. Briscoe Administration

 

 Principal - Shawn Buchanan

Mrs. Shawn Rogers Buchanan became principal of Briscoe Elementary School in 2007.  She has been an educator with Fort Worth Independent School District for fifteen years.  Previous positions within the district include teaching at both elementary and secondary levels.  Prior to assuming leadership of Briscoe she served as an assistant principal for three years.  Mrs. Buchanan completed her undergraduate studies at an HBCU, Grambling State University, where she excelled in all areas of academics, especially writing.  She holds graduate level degrees from Texas Wesleyan University and Texas Christian University.  Mrs. Buchanan has been married for twelve years and has two children, an eight year old son and a three year old daughter.  Believing “To Whom Much is Given, Much is Required”, she is active in both her community and church.  Her service to others is extended through active membership in FWABSE and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.   Mrs. Buchanan’s hobbies include reading and life-long learning.

 

 Assistant Principal - Vernessa Bowie

  

 

 Counselor - Angela Kyser

Driven by her passion to help children succeed, Angela Kyser became a counselor and joined Briscoe Elementary School in 2007.  She worked in the Houston ISD as an Elementary Teacher for four years prior to returning to the Metroplex.   Ms. Kyser holds an undergraduate degree in Pre-Law from Texas Southern University and multiple graduate level degrees from Prairie View A&M University.  She views her role at Briscoe as one of facilitation and support while working with students, families and community.  Some of her responsibilities include establishing and maintaining support groups, facilitating social skills workshops, providing individual counseling,  and making community resource referrals when needed.  Ms. Kyser’s hobbies are shopping and organizing family gatherings.  She is an active member of Chosen Vessel Cathedral.

 

 

 Clerk - Cheryl Tucker   

Mrs. Cheryl R. Tucker has been an employee of Fort Worth ISD for 14 years and currently works as Data Clerk for Briscoe Elementary School.  A mother of two and consummate grandmother , she is involved with her grandchildren and extracurricular activities at Briscoe on a daily basis.  Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Mrs. Tucker relocated to Fort Worth early in her youth.  She is a graduate of Polytechnic High School and later attended TCCC South Campus. When not serving the students and staff of Briscoe Elementary School, Mrs. Tucker presides as an Associate Pastor of There is Hope Ministries.  In her spare time she enjoys reading and sharing quality time with family and friends.

 

Nurse - Juliet Knight 

 

Mrs. Juliet E. Knight has worked as a school nurse in Fort Worth Independent School District for a total of nine years.  Born and raised in the Caribbean Islands, Nurse Knight was college educated in the United States at Andrews University in Michigan.  She received her B.S. degree in Nursing, and an M.A. in Education and Developmental Psychology.  Prior to FWISD she worked in various nursing capacities in Illinois, Michigan, Washington, and Canada.  Mrs. Knight is married; she and husband are the proud parents of two adult children.  Her hobbies include reading, shopping, and travel.  In addition to maintaining a healthy student body at Briscoe Elementary School, Nurse Knight enjoys spreading good eating tips and strives to inspire a healthy living precept.
