EAST HANDLEY WELCOMES
SPENCER MYER ON TUESDAY, MAY 19TH!
Spencer Myer
United States
Age 30
Spencer Myer has been awarded many gold medals in prestigious piano competitions. He has performed in major venues in Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America, and will be joining the East Handley family this May for a very important competition!
The Van Cliburn International Piano Competition is held every four years in Fort Worth and features thirty talented young competitors.
The Adopt-A-Competitor education program allows several Tarrant County public schools to "adopt" one of these carefully selected pianists. This enormously popular program allows fourth and fifth graders to host their "adopted" pianist at their own school and attend a mini-recital by the competitor in their school's auditorium. After the program, the pianist visits classrooms to greet students and answer questions. Students then follow their competitor's progress through the competition. Information about the artists' cultural and geographic background is provided to enhance the students' experience with the musicians.
Participating students, parents, and teachers are also encouraged to view the entire competition live via closed circuit television in the Van Cliburn Recital Hall.
