Our History

Middle Level started out its life as a neighborhood elementary school,                  , in 19     .  In 1989, it changed to Career       . In 1990, it changed to Middle Level Learning center. It became an alternative school handling middle schools students from 14 Fort Worth ISD middle schools. Our student population is drawn from the

During the past school year (2008-2009), on September 27, 2008, Middle Level held the naming ceremony for our new gymnasium facility. It was named the Lararsha Hampton Activity Center, our young science teacher, who passed away. She was a wonderful teacher and who came to us as a first year teacher and was with us for two and a half years. She had a wonderful rapport with our students. She shared a similar background with the majority of our students.  She came to us from an economically disadvantaged area of Louisianna. But she didn't let this have a negative impact on her ambition for herself. She used her life experiences as a model for her students telling them that they could become whatever they wanted to if they could make up their minds and rise above. She was very candid in discussions with her students and they knew that what she was saying was for real, not a fake or phony. But she was leaving us and moving on up to the premed program at Yale.  Latarsha had taken and passed the testing for placement in a premed program. She had passed with such high scores and had recently received her letter of acceptance from Yale University's Premed Program. We like to think that as a faculty, we continue the excellent example of teaching excellence, she set for Middle Level's staff.

The reception was attended by: Latarsha's family, friends, Middle Level staff(present and past); who traveled from many places near and far to honor her life and the legacy she created while teaching at Middle Level.
