Paul Bowers
started teaching at Denton State School in 1976. He graduated twice from Texas Wesleyan University with a bachelor in Psychology and a Masters of Art in Teaching. Mr. Bowers came to Southwest in 2008 after teaching at I.M. Terrell Elementary, Metro Opportunity High School and Dunbar High School.
Ava Brown has had the privilege to work at Southwest High School since 2007. During this time she has worked as a TAP teacher, which is an Autism unit. She also, works as an inclusion teacher, inclusion teachers work closely with the general education teachers to enhance and modify curriculum, to help special education students as well as struggling students understand and be successful in the subject area. She received a Bachelor of Science in interdisciplinary studies of education, in May of 2000.
She is Texas certified in all areas of special education as well as, general education 1-8 grade. “My philosophy as a teacher is.... One must view a student holistically. It takes the collaboration of the home, the school and community working together to raise and educate a child. Therefore, I pledge, with Gods help to provide the best education possible.”
Katherine Clemens started at Southwest on Jan. 4 2006. She transferred from Leonard Middle School teaching Math and science Resource classes to take over the LINC Class. Ms. Clemens graduated from Texas Christian University, Dec. 1999, after her children were grown. She began teaching in Jan. 2000 at Leonard Middle School, teaching Reading and Social Studies. She completed her Masters Degree from Grand Canyon University December, 2006 in Education Administration. Ms. Clemens is certified in Elementary Education, Special Education, ESL, and Gifted and talented. She currently serves on the Superintendent's Grading Advisory Committee, Attendance Committee, and the CCC Committee. “In my spare time, my husband and I enjoy traveling and gardening.”
Pamela Dukes started teaching at Southwest in 1987. Before teaching at Southwest she taught at Richland Hills Elementary. Ms. Dukes graduated from Texas Woman's University in 1982. She currently teach Resource English all grade level, English Inclusion grade 9th, 10, and 11th, and Resource Plato.
Dorothy Morgan started teaching at Southwest in 1992. Before that she taught at TCJC Remedial Reading and Rosemont Middle School 8th Grade. She is the Special Education Lead Teacher at Southwest for the last 18 years. Ms. Morgan graduated from TCU with a BA in Education and a Masters. She teaches Content Mastery.
Zoe Murphy received her bachelor's degree from Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Al. She started teaching at Southwest in 1986 and has loved every minute of it. Her class Is "TAP" which stands for Teaching to Academic Potential. Ms. Murphy teach all academic subjects to her students as well as social and vocational skills, which are essential for her students to become as independent as possible once they complete high school. She is also the Special Olympic coach for bowling and track and field.
Phyllis Peacock came to Southwest in 1995 as a Special Ed. Work Co-op teacher after teaching both Art and Special Ed in FWISD. In 2002 she became a Transition Specialist for FWISD and continued her assignment at Southwest. She teaches a Special Ed Work Co-op class and is in charge of transition services for all Special Ed students attending SHS. She is a 1974 graduate of Texas Christian University and a Fort Worth native.
Eric Robinson
Harold Wunderlich began teaching the LINC program here at SHS in 1992. Mr. Wunderlich taught the LINC program at Diamond Hill High from 1989-1992. He started teaching 1986 in Lufkin Texas at the Lufkin State School. He graduated from SFA w/ a degree in Secondary Education. Mr. Wunderlich enjoys volunteering/coaching for Texas Special Olympics. He is also the Head Golf Coach.
